Writing about classroom ideas comes more easily than writing about myself. If you are here on the blog, though, you might be interested in knowing a bit about me. Even though I'm well into middle-age (with four great children, ages 15 to 9), I'm a relatively new teacher. If anyone had told my 18 year old self that I would one day teach, I'd have laughed them out of the room (I wanted to be a lawyer back then). My mom was a teacher - and I suspect that's one of the reasons I never considered it as a career option.
Once I had children of my own, however, and I had the opportunity to volunteer in their classrooms, I realised that I loved the teaching and learning process. So once all my kids were safely into the classroom themselves as learners, I went back to do my PGDE, and here I am...a teacher, just like my mom.
My husband patiently listens to any and all of my daily ruminations on life in the classroom, as well as ideas for changes I can make to improve learning for my class. It isn't really his 'thing', however, and I can sometimes see (no matter how hard he tries to hide it) the eyes glazing over. So I thought - why not start a blog and hopefully share ideas and enter into a conversation with others who love teaching as much as I do? That's the hope, anyway.
Happy Teaching!
